I’m not normally very girly or floral person, however there is something that happens in spring that is just magical, here are some simple floral arrangements for you to try this spring.

Why not add a splash of floral to your home…
I have a few old teapots and tea sets as well as tableware and material, those precious bits and pieces that didn’t quite have a place to go, and that are too big to have on shelves and in cupboards, I needed to find them a home. So I bought this huge and cheap chest to store it all in. The two things that were important to me when looking for a chest, was that it was big (check) and cheap (check), I don’t care too much as to how it looked, but I did’t mind the union jack for the time being.
Well the union jack didn’t last all that long before I was dreaming up ideas on how to cover it up. Firstly painting it white always helps, but with the very prominent brown boarder it was to much contrast. It was also a bit to big to do a fancy drawing or painting on, and that would probably take me forever, and I couldn’t settle on anything in particular. So a thought a simple way of changing it would be to cover it up, and so I did, with a well loved (not by me but someone else) book, on Australian gardening.
Perfect. I love recycling and I love the look of reused books and book pages on various objects and craft ideas, it doesn’t matter what they are about as long as the paper is strong enough to be handled and glued. Stick around and see what else you can do with old book pages.
I live within a few minutes walk and drive to some of Australia’s most stunning beaches on the NSW coast, so naturally I love all things beach and ocean related. Sand, surf and sun is very much a part of my life, so with that in mind I like to include beach decor into my interior design style…
However I’m not one for excessive or themed homes/rooms, I like small touches that remind me that summer is just around the corner and its time to get back in the water!
Using colour and ocean tones does this, worn and whitewashed furniture pieces show the weathering of the ocean, I enjoy a mix of modern and classic Australian beach home (those beautiful old weatherboard homes can be done in any style you like). I think the most beautiful part of beach homes are the use of natural materials (which I adore) wood, stone and bringing the outside in, sand, corals, grass, plant life and shells.
The use of huge floor to ceiling windows lets you enjoy the view and the use of the colour white encourages space and sunshine. Its all just beautiful!
I picked up this stunning old mirror at a garage sale, as you can see it was a lovely golden colour with the mirror completely intact. However I had little to no use for a golden mirror in my house, so it was time to find a new purpose for it.
First I painted it a pale mint, almost light aqua colour (love this colour). I had to do a few coats to really cover up that gold.
That was the easy part, next task was to cut out the shape in wood.
The difficulty with the shape was if it was slightly off it wouldn’t fit! I got there in the end painted it with blackboard paint and
What do you think?
I love this style of home décor, it provides a sense of space and sophistication, but it also lets shine the individuals taste and personality.

I also adore the use of timber floors, be it painted white, black or left natural.

The reason I love this style is the white space, it provides you with a sense of freedom to add what you like and adjust colours and textures, from season to season.
Hi, my name is Alissa. I am an aspiring designer, in the fields of event planning/styling as well as interior design.
My Interior design style is relaxed and simple, I love using neutral colours as a basis and natural elements such as wood and stone. I would have to say I have a very eclectic style, as I like design elements from both old and new, I love finding a new life for old furniture and objects. Most of all, I love when a home feels warm and inviting, with splashes of colour mixed in for good measure. I believe these are what make a home personal, more you.
I love, love, love organising and planning, decorating and cooking and most of all hosting parties and events. I like the freedom that comes with styling an event, it can be as casual and simple as you like or as crazy and colourful as you dream. These are the days that hold fast in your memories and I believe in making every celebration no matter how big or small, a day not to forget.
As you may gather from my little blog, I love all things ‘Alice in Wonderland’, the story and imagery have inspired me to pursue my day dreams.
So join me for a while, why not brew a pot of tea, as it’s always tea time here!
